A new Rwandan treat has arrived. This natural-processed coffee from Nyamasheke District, Rwanda offers a pleasantly sweet, full-bodied cup that is perfectly suited for the winter season. In the cup, you’ll find ripe red fruits, vanilla cola, and soft sweetness, making the coffee approachable yet layered and complex. The finish is clean and pleasantly long.

This coffee is grown at 1,550–1,800 meters, where the cool climate slows the ripening of the cherries and allows sugars and aromas to develop fully. The result is a balanced, fruit-forward and elegant flavor profile typical of Rwanda.

The coffee comes from Rugali Coffee Washing Station, built in April 2016 and managed by Josue Dusengiyumva. Rugali is the largest and busiest washing station in the area, affectionately known as “The Big Daddy.” The station works with approximately 1,150 farming families, with an annual production of around 550–650 metric tons of green coffee.

Rugali is located on the shores of Lake Kivu, surrounded by Rwanda’s iconic thousand hills. In a short time, Rugali has become one of the most respected washing stations in the region. Its coffees have been used in numerous national and international barista competitions, and together with its sister station Kilimbi, Rugali was the first in Rwanda to legally produce and export natural- and honey-processed coffees. This has opened doors for many other coffee producers across the country.

Hobe hobe hobe — to the Rugali family!
