Majahual returns with the 2025 harvest. This naturally processed Red Bourbon coffee from Finca Majahual, El Salvador, works beautifully both as an espresso and with milk. Its pleasant fruitiness combines with the rich body and sweetness of the natural process, resulting in a coffee that is exceptionally balanced and smooth. In the flavor, you’ll find notes of stone fruit, dark plum, and brown sugar.
Located in the Los Naranjos Valley in the Sonsonate region of El Salvador, the world-renowned Apaneca-Ilamatepec coffee-growing area is home to Finca Majahual, situated at an altitude of about 1,500–1,800 meters. The farm benefits from an ideal microclimate for coffee cultivation: cool, humid ocean air, rich volcanic soil, and abundant rainfall. It is run by Patrick Murray and his sister Christina Murray. Finca Majahual’s history dates back to 1936, and it is now in the hands of the fourth generation of the Murray family.
The farm’s mission is not only to produce exceptional coffee but also to serve as an economic and social project that brings employment, well-being, and positive impact to the entire community. Their medical center, Clínica San Rafael, provides healthcare for farm workers. The farm also operates an educational center that offers schooling for local children from preschool through fifth grade. They invest heavily in the nutrition and welfare of their employees. Patrick and Christina Murray do all of this with the vision of not only producing quality coffee today but ensuring it continues for generations to come.
They also focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly farming. Shade trees are used throughout the plantation to increase biodiversity and enhance coffee quality. In addition, they are committed to sustainable agricultural methods, soil conservation, water management, and forest stewardship.
