This Claudia Samboni's crop from the Las Nubes farm is an excellent example of what quality coffee means to us. It is clean in flavor, well-balanced, and sweet, with a farmer behind it who works with pride and expertise. The coffee has notes of caramel, orange, and subtle floral qualities. It is an honor to roast Claudia's coffee for the first time!
The Las Nubes farm is located in the Huila region of Colombia, in the village of Agua Negra, at an elevation of around 1700 meters. Its location is close to perfection: the winds from the Laboyos Valley combined with the surrounding natural area create ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. In addition to the Caturra variety, Claudia also cultivates other varieties on the farm and conducts research to achieve the best varieties and cultivation practices. Perhaps in the future, we will have the opportunity to offer some more of Claudia's amazing coffees at GLC!
After harvesting, the Caturra variety coffee is floated in water to remove impurities and defective coffee cherries. Following this, the beans are separated from the coffee cherry and placed in an oxygen-free tank for fermentation for 40 hours. After fermentation, the coffee is dried on elevated African beds for approximately 25 days.
