El Relojero is easily approachable Espresso coffee with milk chocolate finish.

Martin Guiterrez biggest farm is “Gamboa” located in Las Nubes in Santa Maria de Dota at 1700-1800 masl. In the farm he has different blocks and El Relojero is one of these. Martin is among the most experienced producers with micro mills as they started already in 1999. Local pickers and family members are selecting the ripest cherries. It’s then mechanically demucilaged before sun dried on raised beds. Process: With the Eco pulper they are able to adjust the amount of mucilage they want to remove before soaking/fermenting or drying. In this case it is what they refer to as “double washed” meaning they mechanically remove around 70% mucilage and then soak the coffee under water to remove the rest of the mucilage. Drying: Montañas del Diamante sun dries their micro lots on covered patios. They move the coffee every 1 and ½ hour. And it takes around 7 days to get to the right moisture content 10%-10,5%.

We roast and ship the coffees on wednesdays.

Mbirizi is a delicious coffee that keeps on surprising us and often gets shadowed unfairly by the Kenyans and Ethiopians. Definitely worth a try if you like coffees from Africa!

Mbirizi Washing Station is the second and most recent one out of two washing stations owned by the producer Salum Ramadhan. It was established 2014, with the first production in 2015. The coffees are basically all selected daily lots, named by the local area or Collin (hill) where the cherries are purchased. Coffee is from the surroundings of the washing station. Farms in Burundi is small, often below one hectar each with some hundred trees. This means that a daily lot of e.g. 25 bags of greens can consist of coffee from some hundred growers.

Despite a lot of deforestation, Burundi is still fertile. With altitudes up to 2000 meters, volcanic soils, and rainfall of 1300 mm per year, the growing conditions are good. Today there are thousands of smallholder coffee farmers with some hundred coffee trees each that delivers their cherries to the communal washing stations for processing.

We roast and ship the coffees on wednesdays.

Peaberry coffees are always interesting and special. Kamwangi PB is fresh with currant and apple flavors. No wonder it's one our favourites.

The Kamwangi Factory (wetmill) is one out of two wet mills of the “New Ngariama Cooperative Society” in Kirinyaga in Central Kenya. Kirinyaga is located on the slopes of Mount Kenya and together with the neighboring region Nyeri it’s known for coffees with most intense, complex, and flavor-dense cup profiles worldwide. It is made up of mainly smallholder farms, each with some 100 trees. The farmers are organized in Cooperative Societies that acts as umbrella organizations for the Factories (wetmills), where the smallholders deliver their coffee cherries for processing.
